Who’s behind Sacramento Joy?
Hi! My name is Emily Kingston. I began Sacramento Joy to showcase the wonderful people of Sacramento and surrounding areas to remind myself and you about the good things happening right now. Good people exist. In the midst of a chaotic and unpredictable world, it is so important to remember our neighbors and the ways they work hard to bring joy to our every day lives. I love this community. Each day I admire the resilience, talent, creativity and power that is held within it. I help share the stories of real people so we always remember the greatness that lives next door.
Email us today to share the story of someone who brings joy to you and the Sacramento community.
Meet the Barrow’s Goldeneye
In Sacramento Joy’s logo, you’ll find a Barrow’s Goldeneye. You may see this bird in the Sacramento area, near the American River during winter months. It is rare and well-hidden, a perfect representation of individuals the Sacramento Joy seeks to bring recognition to.
Those who watch carefully and see the hidden beauty in Sacramento are those who will come across the Barrow’s Goldeneye. It is our hope that Sacramento Joy finds the Barrow’s Goldeneye in our friends and neighbors here, through their passions, skills, kindness, and more.
The rendition of the Barrow’s Goldeneye found in our logo was created by Emily Kingston using watercolor and pen.
